Winter in the City is a fun design featuring Dutch canal houses by night - snowflakes are falling, a mill is milling flour that the maid will turn into breads and biscuits, and a cat is playing on a roof. The design has only full crosses. It can be stitched light on dark or dark on light - stitch amounts for both options are given in the booklet.

Modern Folk Embroidery is the name used by the Dutch designer Jacob de Graaf for his line of unique folklore-inspired cross-stitch designs. MFE provides both original cross-stitch design charts and more recently also adaptations of traditional samplers. His original, mainly monochromatic designs have in recent years found a large global audience of stitchers. Their pleasing and timeless aesthetic, together with the relative simplicity of following a one-colour pattern has contributed to their popularity. Being a collector of antique samplers, Jacob has in recent years started charting some of those, together with publishing his extensive research into lovingly created booklets.
